Particularly in the areas not densely populated by lit torches, unlike this oneolzen wrote:What I do know for sure is that it is actually bloody cold in those caves.
Yes, it's not really beachy, but I still think they shouldn't be dressed as if they were in the middle of an Antarctic blizzard. Something more in-between, like +10C or so.

I'd say closer to 285K, but the exact temperature really doesn't matter. But the neon sign would certainly affect your estimation. It seems apparent you didn't take that into account.
And caves generally have milder temperatures anyway. Once you get away from the surface openings, it should start to warm up, being under at least several cubits of ground.

Well, I had originally made the fur brown so that the characters wouldn't stand out so much against the warm brown colors of their caves. I was originally using the color key of the camp to colorize the Furkunz, but I just did one where he's much more bluish.
I still like the cute bright eyes and freckles, so I left those in. I figure they help add comedy to the fact that they can't be taken seriously as tough guys.

Aye, much better!
Perhaps you could do one where his hat is down to match the indoors-being-ness-ed-esque-ity-ness?
EDIT: To prevent confusion, I'd like to add that by "hat is down", I meant that he'd have taken the hood off as he's inside and not down as in covering his ears or something like that.

So, what would you like to do next?
a) design a new character (probably the penguin in the sewers. We could likely make some Macaroni Penguin references too)
b) "specialise" the Furkunz - sketch out the different Furkunz characters (mayor, bartender, priest, etc). I'll get you the full list if you decide to do this. It would also be advisable to read (or re-read) the Caves script, to get a fresh idea of their character and so on.
or... c) rest a bit
The choice be thine.

Allright. By the way, it would also be useful to read (or re-read) the script for that part. It's not too long and probably gives you the best idea of the characters. But anyhoo, here comes the summary with initial visual descriptions:
Mayor Nurb
Dressed more fancily than the others, probably a bit chubby. Not very bright, often says weird things. Intolerant of all simians, including both Roger and the apemen. He's not an enemy of Roger, though. He cooperates, just not too happily.
Finkle
The leader of the resistance. More clever and intelligent than the others. Gets irritated when others interrupt him talking. Probably looking slim and tall and dressed somewhat resistance-leader-ish-iously-esquely.
Odster and Gofty
Two rather similar Furkunz. Best friends, always together, tend to hang out with Finkle (whom they tend to interrupt) and the mayor and play caveball. Very friendly towards Roger. Somewhat generic-looking, yet still different from the others. There should be some specific visual distinction between the two, which I haven't yet come up with, so you can.
The Priest
The oldest of the Furkunz, doesn't have very good eyesight. Slightly senile and nervous. Wears something religious-looking. Probably a white robe thingy (but could be something else if you've got ideas).
Werg (leader of the Thieves' Guild)
Looks sneaky, resembling this guy. But that's just for the face, he should be dressed differently. Thieves'-guild-leaderishly, I suppose.
Merf (the rich traitor)
The only villainous Furkunz character. Secretly works for Vohaul as a spy. Only appears in this scene in nightwear (when he discovers Roger who breaks into his house).
--------------
The following characters only appear in the bar and could be drawn on the background image (probably better to crop and zoom the background for each character though, as drawing them too small would lead to crappier quality). They will also be visible on this scene, but probably in less detail to speed up the work.
The Bartender
Somewhat older, has a raspy voice. Looks like a typical bartender who's been doing his job for a long time (the character in the game hasn't done it for long, but should look like he has). Keeps constantly drying a drinking glass with a little white towel, as a sort of a joke ("How long have you been drying that glass?" "Not long enough." or something like that. Not yet scripted in.) Always stands behind the counter, so no need to draw his bottom half.
Rulf (Mysterious Furkunz)
Extremely secretive and suspicious. Probably in a dark grey coat and wearing a hat, in a film noir detective style or somesuch. Sitting on the second-from-left bar stool.
Drunk Furkunz
Well... he's drunk. From water, apparently. Very strange, speaks gibberish. Not a very important character for the plot. Sitting on the leftmost bar stool. Or more like slouching over the counter and drooling.
The Pianist
A tribute to Ray Charles. That should pretty much say enough.
And... that should be it. There's still the mechanic guy at the fortress, but that's for later when we've scripted it out.

All righty, so today I got done the Mayor and Finkle. For the mayor, I tried to make a simple costume that would be considered fancy in an eskimo's eyes (ala the toque with ears) and I gave him a gimmer stick for fun. I was going for overall importance in his character. As for Finkle, I just went ahead and did a classic "rebel leader" look on him. He tries to look tough by blocking out the cute freckles with black-out. I was going to give him a spear, but a straight metal pole looked just as menacing for this pose.
