Full-blown musical ending

Post by olzen »

I had a chat with Kain and I came up with the idea to have a full-blown musical number (not neccessarily that long) in the end. The deal is to have Roger and Bea singing a really clichéed love song. In the end of it, Roger trips and accidently rips down the background which is nothing but a curtain. Behind it is the symphony orchestra who played the song. It'd be a somewhat hard job to make that scene, but I think it's possible. But I just wanted to ask you if you think the same. It is also possible to cut down the scene a bit and use a guy with a guitar or a piano, though. But what do you guys think?

I think it'd be interesting to have that. We'd have to use video, though.

Not sure about that. It could probably be done in-game.

I suppose we could use a sprite, but with only 20 frames in each loop, it might get tricky. We'll see, I guess.

Another sort of variation on that is that she asks him what happened during the adventure and he says "Well..." and then takes off his uniform to reveal a golden jacket and cane. Dissolve to a new long background which has a crude drawing of each locale he went to during the game and he sings a song about his adventure, working his way down the line, though messing up a couple times, then tripping on a rock, and then bringing down the background.

Of course, your idea is great as well, I just wanted to throw another one out there.

We could have a parody of Frank Sinatra singing "I Did it My Way" in the background if we did it Eegah's way.

That's a great idea. Although I haven't seen how Sinatra performed that song, I think I know what you mean. It'd certainly look really good and funny.

And Kain also mentioned having a song in the intro that Bea and Roger just sing spontaneously. So it should be half of the song. The first half would be about love, in a deliberately cheesy and clichéed way. The last half that Roger performs during the end is about defeating the enemy and being together with Bea again.

Is this scene going to be in the intro or at the end?

I'll see if I can upload a copy of Sinatra, if you don't get to see it.

The musical routine is going to be at the end.

Kain wanted Roger and Bea to break out in song in the Pie-ery for no apparant reason. Just in bad musicals. The ending does the same thing. It reveals where the obligatory musician(s) are hidden.

OK, I see.

So are they in the Pie-ery at the end, too?

No. I'm not sure about the ending. According to my ending cutscene script, they're at a hospital on Xenon where Bea gives birth to Roger Jr. But after all this collaboration with SQ7, I'm not sure.

Sort of like "La Donna e Mobile" from Rigoletto?
