Re: translation
The issue is that this character is NOT speaking the same language than all the others (English), but if you translate to Spanish the lines of all the other characters, then such character will be speaking the SAME language... So, the solution is to rewrite his lines in a language that is not Spani...

Re: translation
By the way (I HAVE to ask) Why are you so reluctant to make a simple change, like writing "Bismarkian" ("Bismarckiano") instead of "Tacobelian" (or "Tacobeliano", "Taquero" or "Tacobe?o") in the Spanish version?. I'm really curious. I'm gu...

Re: translation
Said all that, the point is: The guard with a mustache (wherever he is from) does not speak the same language as the rest of the characters, so, to make him speak in Spanish in the Spanish version is like "stealing" a little from the overall story, as the pun is "lost in traslation&q...

Re: translation
Errr... There are no "American" or "British" characters in the game, but "Xenonian". The "Universal Translator Thingie" is the one responsible for the lines in the player's language ;) /--/ Xenonian <-> Player's language. Ahh, now I see what you mean :D Howev...

Re: translation
There's hardly any character, is there? Just a reference to the "Tacobelian" sector. When stripped of that reference, he's just an apeman recruited through an exchange programme. And I still think we should change that reference when translating the game, because the joke falls completely...

Re: translation
I'm just saying that I quite don't understand why a Mexican character would be not speaking in Spanish... For the same reason Roger wouldn't be speaking English :P The translations would keep each character's nationality, but change their lines to something different than their native language. Rog...

Re: translation
But in order to make the ape guard to speak in a foreign language, you actually have to change his nationality in order to make sense. I still disagree: Roger - Nationality: Xenonian (English) - Voice: English - Text in original: English - Text in translations: not English Mex Guard - Nationality: ...

Re: translation
So you want to change the actual character to be Prussian instead of Mexican? Or am I misreading this?olzen wrote:I'm leaning towards the "Prussian soldier"-idea as well. Suits the moustache!

Re: translation
I still wouldn't want to change the actual character (as making him Texan or Prussian would), only the text that is shown. Much like Roger and Vohaul don't become Spanish characters - they stay the same and sound the same, justdifferent text is shown. And so the question is - in what way to change h...

Re: translation
Hmm, it seems I've sort of assumed by default in my earlier posts here that the Spanish translation would also have Spanish voices. Now that I've actually thought about it, I realised that's highly unlikely :D I guess it would have the same voices as the regular version of the game, but with the tex...

Re: translation
Yeah, the character and the meaning of the lines should stay the same.
Just wondering what language (or what kind of a distortion of Spanish) to show and read them in.

Re: translation
I'm thinking the character should still stay Mexican, but his lines should be something different from regular Spanish to make him stand out.
It'd make sense on the same level as the actors of the French characters speaking English.

Re: translation
His appearance is still Mexican, though. Reminds me of "'Allo, 'Allo" - a British comedy series where most of the characters were French, so the actors spoke regular English, but there were also a few British characters whose French was awful, so the actors spoke horribly distorted English...

Re: Which Ending?
The Gobbledygook one, definitely
But other than that, I'd go with the Paragon (happy) one being the main story.
The Renegade ending links up with Incinerations and together, they sort of form a darker alternate timeline.
